The law firm of Owen & Owens is proud to announce that all three founding partners, W. Joseph Owen III, Mary Burkey Owens and Samuel J. Kaufman, were voted by their peers for the 2010 edition of Law & Politics’ Virginia Super Lawyers®. Only five percent of active licensed attorneys in Virginia are selected for inclusion after extensive peer review and editorial research.

For the second year in a row, Mary Burkey Owens received the added distinction as one of the “Top 25 Female Super Lawyers” in Virginia which indicates she received one of the highest point totals in the nomination, research and blue ribbon review process. Owens chairs the firm’s family law team and also practices real estate law and civil litigation. She is a founding member and former president of the Metro Richmond Family Law Bar and past president of the Chesterfield County Bar Association.

Sam Kaufman was named as a Virginia Super Lawyer “Rising Star” for the second year. He primarily focuses his practice in general and civil litigation, real estate and business law. Kaufman is a past chairman of the Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce and serves as Vice President for Planning and Operations of the University of Richmond Alumni Association.

Joe Owen is a successful trial lawyer representing individuals and businesses in civil and commercial litigation, criminal defense, personal injury, real estate, estate planning, corporate and construction law. He is chairman of the Drug Court Foundation of Chesterfield/Colonial Heights and a statewide leader with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
